On the Beach in Nigeria
Sherry follows the "Road of Ifa" in the Yoruba tradition. This is one of the original religions brought by slaves to the Americas from Africa.
If you are interested in the history of why this religion is not widely known about in the United States, view the mini series "Wonders of the African World" (with Henry Louis Gates Jr.) broadcast on PBS recently. The December 1999 Issue of "Vibe" Magizine also has a very informative and enligthing article.

I give praises to Oludumare (God) from whom all blessings flow. I give thanks (Adupe), to my ancestors, who passed on to me, all the talent that I possess. I give thanks to the Orisha, the angels of God, who have granted me the use of their ASE' (or Power) to minister to those whose spirits need healing and nurturing through the music. I give thanks to Orunmilla (IFA), for revealing to me my path of destiny, and in being obedient to that guidance, solidifying the assurance of fulfilling my destiny.
Ile' Omo Olofi is the name of the spiritual house we are members of. The Godfather of the house is Master Percussionist, Chief Bey. With his wife Iyanla Barbara Bey and their oldest Godson Norman Powers, (Sherry's Godfather) they have brought the house to the forefront of the Yoruba community . Sherry has walked this path most of her adult life and has brought key information to many others. If you would like to learn more about Ifa please read on and follow the information link.
